Fofana (Interviewer):
Hi Yusuf, and thank you for gracing our tournament today.
Viqas Yusuf (Aston Villa Foundation):
Thank you. It’s really nice to be here and witness how people within the Aston community are using football as a powerful tool for integration.
Fofana:
What are your thoughts on the tournament so far?
Viqas Yusuf:
I really want to commend the executive team of Football for Fitness and its members for putting this wonderful initiative together. It clearly shows how sport—especially football—can be a unifying force in the community. The level of participation is impressive, and you can feel the sense of unity among everyone here. It’s not just about playing football; it’s about building bridges across different backgrounds.
Fofana:
What advice or message would you like to give to the organisers?
Viqas Yusuf:
As I mentioned earlier, Football for Fitness is doing a fantastic job promoting unity and social inclusion within the Aston community. It’s been uplifting to see the activities of your association in action. I can confidently say that the Aston Villa Foundation is proud to have Football for Fitness under its wider network. We recognise the value you’re bringing to the community, and the Foundation will continue to offer its support wherever and whenever needed.
Fofana:
We appreciate that support. Just to add, Football for Fitness is not limited to Nigerians alone—it’s open to everyone. We’re committed to using sport as a vehicle for broader community integration, regardless of background or nationality.
Viqas Yusuf:
That’s excellent to hear. Inclusion is key to building a stronger, healthier community, and initiatives like this lay the foundation for that.
Fofana:
Absolutely. This is just the beginning for us. We’re very keen on extending our impact through community engagement, inclusion programs, mentoring opportunities, and mental health support. We believe football can be more than just a game—it can be a lifeline for many.
Viqas Yusuf:
That’s a powerful vision, and you’re definitely on the right path. Keep it up.
Fofana:
Thank you once again for coming and for your kind words.
Viqas Yusuf:
It’s my pleasure. Thank you for having me.
